The Bowdoin Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of George Lopez, will present an exciting program featuring two student soloists and a faculty composition. Senior flutist Anya Workman will perform Cécile Chaminade’s Concertino for Flute and Orchestra, a work known for its lyrical beauty and technical brilliance. Senior violinist Jimmy Song will take the stage with the first movement of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in e Minor, one of the most cherished works in the violin repertoire, celebrated for its expressive melodies and virtuosic demands. The concert will conclude with the world premiere of Scott Martin’s Improvisation for Orchestra, a rhythmic and vibrant piece infused with Latin and Afro-American influences, bringing a dynamic close to the evening.
