Calling all campus cinephiles and mythology enthusiasts! Get ready to embark on a cinematic odyssey at our Classics B-Movie Festival, where the legends of Greek mythology come to life in all their B-movie glory. Join us as we dive into a whirlwind of camp and adventure, where gods, monsters, and mortals collide in the most unexpected ways! At the end of each film, there will be some light discussion of some of its themes and its cinematographic significance. Even if you’re new to Greek mythology, come join us—all are welcome!

Clash of the Titans (2010)
Check out the 21st adaptation of Clash of the Titans! We’ll avert our eyes from the oppressive glare shining from the Zeus’ armor and we’ll consider whether Laurence Olivier’s “Let loose the Kraken” or Liam Neeson’s “Release the Kraken” sounds more epic. We’ll also reflect on the use of CGI monsters and sets vs. practical and stop motion.

Sponsored by the Department of Classics and the Bowdoin Film Society
