Dennis Geronimus is Professor and Chair of the Department of Art History at New York University. He specializes in Italian Renaissance art, with an emphasis on painting and graphic media of 15th- and 16th-century Tuscany. His presentation will focus on Pontormo’s studio practice and the hard-won process of experimentation behind his otherwise visionary images. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Metamorphosis and Malice: Pontormo’s Three Monochrome Paintings from Renaissance Florence and Related Works.
