About this Event
245 Maine Street, Brunswick, ME
https://bowdoin.campusgroups.com/BCMA/rsvp?id=1945420On this historic election day, we invite you to visit the Museum of Art and take part in shaping history by recording an audio message in Abigail DeVille’s Lunar Capsule (2023), an interactive artwork that encourages visitors to share their stories. You might speak about what this election means to you or relate what your voting experience was like. DeVille will archive these recordings and use them in a future artwork. Sensitive to the mechanisms through which personal narratives become part of recorded history—or fail to—DeVille encourages her viewers to become active participants in sharing their own stories. This event is presented in conjunction with Abigail DeVille: In the Fullness of Time, on view through November 10, 2024.
Also to mark this occasion, we will be opening—for one afternoon only—the original front entrance of the Museum of Art, which has been closed since 2005. Come and experience walking through this door into the Museum’s Rotunda, where you will find DeVille’s Lunar Capsule.
Please note that this event will be held weather-permitting. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
