Please join us for a reception in the Pavilion at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art following a public program that celebrates the remarkable career and legacy of artist Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (1940–2025). An enrolled citizen of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes, Smith worked in painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, mixed media, and sculpture to explore issues confronting contemporary Native American communities, including histories of oppression and environmental degradation. The talk preceding the reception will be at 5:00 p.m. in Beam Classroom and will be presented by her son, collaborator, educator, and fellow artist Neal Ambrose-Smith.

Presented by the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. The Museum’s recent acquisition of Jaune Quick-to-See Smith’s Jock: Gray Whale and associated programming is made possible with support from Jimmy Ellis '82, Martha Henry '82, and Leslie Rainer '82 in honor Yvonne Swann Simon ’82.
