Anna Morawiec Mansfield is Legal Counsel at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, where she is responsible for providing expert and strategic legal advice and assistance to the Director General, to the bodies of WIPO Member States and to the Secretariat on public international law, constitutional, administrative, contractual, and general legal matters. Prior to her work with WIPO, Ms. Morawiec Mansfield was Legal Adviser at the United States Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, responsible for legal advice and counsel related to a wide range of US multilateral priorities in Geneva. In her previous experience as attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the US Department of State, in Washington, D.C., Ms. Morawiec Mansfield advised senior US Government officials and policymakers on international law and policy matters in both bilateral and multilateral contexts, with extensive experience in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. She also served on special assignment as principal legal adviser to UN Special Envoy for the Kosovo Status Process, Former President of Finland and Nobel Peace Laureate Martti Ahtisaari. For her outstanding performance and leadership at the US Department of State, Ms. Morawiec Mansfield was named a Colin Powell Fellow, and has been the recipient of the Franklin Award, named for Benjamin Franklin in honor of his distinguished service as a public servant and diplomat, in addition to numbers Superior Honor awards. Prior to her State Department experience, Ms. Morawiec Mansfield worked for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, and the American Bar Association Central and East European Law Initiative in Krakow, Poland, and in Washington D.C. Ms. Morawiec Mansfield received her JD from Columbia Law School (CLS), where she was also awarded a certificate from the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law. At CLS, Ms. Morawiec Mansfield was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as Senior Editor on the Columbia Law Review.
