Dr. Christopher Roberts will speak on "Using AI in Empirical Research."
4:30-5:30pm, Tuesday, October 15, Hubbard Hall, Room 213 (Pickering Room)
Today's researchers can use AI tools to assist at every stage of the research process. These include the many AI assistants that allow for ad hoc support via chat interfaces and, increasingly, "copilot" functionality that can assist with writing code, coding qualitative data, conducting literature reviews, and more. In this workshop, we will focus on AI workflows that allow for more reproducible and scalable AI assistance that achieves a higher level of quality by automating fixed AI workflows. The workshop will be led by Christopher Robert, a researcher, technologist, and AI practitioner who has taught and conducted research in development economics and policy analysis as well as built technology to support researchers in over 160 countries. Note: this workshop will be a more-technical accompaniment to the day's faculty lunch on Research Excellence with Imperfect AI, and it will feature Python code in a modern data science environment.
