About this Event
As we begin the new year, many people are struggling with uncertainty about the future and a sense of overwhelm as they witness a torrent a troubling news: ecological crises, racialized violence, wealth inequality, economic insecurity, and the ripple effects from multiple global conflicts. In spite of these challenges, dharma teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo believes “we were made for these times.” Bowdoin College is excited to host Lingo, whose talk will offer wisdom and practices from the Zen Buddhist tradition for all who want to mindfully move through seasons of change, loss, and disruption. This talk is part of Bowdoin’s observance of Black History Month and (Inter)Faith Visibility Week.
Kaira Jewel Lingo is a Dharma teacher with a lifelong interest in spirituality and social justice. Her work continues the Engaged Buddhism developed by Thich Nhat Hanh, and she draws inspiration from her parents’ lives of service and her dad’s work with Martin Luther King, Jr. Her teachings and writings can be found at www.kairajewel.com.
