In this interactive talk, Monique Coombs, Director of Community Programs, Maine Coast Fishermen's Association, will invite the audience to reflect on images captured by National Geographic photographer David McLain. In 2024, David photographed Maine’s iconic working waterfront and fishermen in action. But what the general public sees in these photos may be quite different from what those within the fishing community see. Monique will guide a conversation with the audience about the striking visuals of commercial fishing and how they contrast with the day-to-day realities of life in the fishing community. (Please "register" if you plan to attend so that we can get a sense of numbers!)
